Large diameter tubing produced by drawing or extruding typically becomes either structurally or economically less viable as size goes up. Also, some alloys such as 5086 are typically not successful in hollow shapes. Generally sizes above 12″ in diameter should be considered for fabrication from two or more pieces with longitudinal welds.
